Logistics for Military Personnel
Mid-South is only an hour’s drive from Millington Naval Air Station. This enables military units to fly into Millington via military flights where government vehicles and berthing can be provided with potential savings over commercial flights, rental cars and hotels. This convenient proximity to Millington makes it possible for military unites to send more personnel for firearms training at a much lower cost. We are only a 30-minute drive from the Tennessee Air National Guard Base where they are co-located with the Memphis International Airport. Mid-South also has D.O.D. certified ordnance storage on site.

Ammo, Gear & Weapons Requirements
Gear for the Combat Pistol and Rifle Course is as follows:

Pistol 2,500 rounds per week/per person *actual rounds expended will be determined by class size and weather considerations

Rifle 2,000 rounds per week/per person

Ammunition can be- drop shipped to Mid-South, purchased here* or brought with you. Do not bring Tracer or armor piercing ammo. Green-tip 5.56 ammo is fine. *Call for pricing.

Gear:   Eye and Ear protection is mandatory!  While revolvers are not prohibited, the volume of rounds fired makes semi-auto pistols much more serviceable.  Any standard semi-auto pistol will be satisfactory as long as it is SAFE to operate.  Please familiarize yourself with the operation of your weapon before coming here.   This includes the safety features!   We do not have a gunsmith on site.  A back-up gun and or any spare parts are recommended.  Belt, magazine pouches, magazines (3), holster (duty; tactical or concealed type) will be needed.   We have a gun cleaning area, solvent tanks and compressed air hoses, but gun cleaning solvents and equipment will be needed.  Ballistic vests are optional, as are knee pads and scopes.  Hats are recommended at all times.  Gloves, particularly shooting gloves, (Nomex, flight gloves, etc...) can be helpful on cooler days.  Rain gear, Camelbacks or canteens are recommended year round.  For the summer months- don’t forget your sun block and insect repellant.
